Why your team needs horses

When navigating what today’s society is calling “unprecedented times,” we are being flooded with information about current events through live updates on social media and news outlets. And, while technology advancing at an exponential rate can be transformative for the global collective, information overload is oftentimes overwhelming and overstimulating. Constant awareness of what’s going on in our neighborhoods, communities, countries, and the world can be daunting and paralyzing, and this flood of information from all directions makes it difficult to stay present in the moment and in our bodies.
On top of the challenges of this particular historical moment, we live in a society that requires a lot of brain power, and we are constantly living in our minds, sifting through the many thoughts our brains produce. The brain is the original computer, and it can compute so much that we forget that we are attached to a meat suit called the human body. In order to learn how to be present in our personal and professional environments, we need to step out of our normal environments so that we can reconnect with our bodily sensations, feelings, thoughts in real time. Mindfulness—being present in the moment and learning how to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings from a nonjudgmental perspective—is one way to achieve this connection. Mindfulness is the practice of focusing your awareness in the present moment by grounding your body, your immediate sensory perceptions, and your emotional responses.
In response to these everyday (and sometimes simultaneously historic) happenings, Heart Space and Option Bee Consulting have joined together to offer our expertise on being present in today’s society and in today’s world. Focusing on gentleness, patience, and compassion, Heart Space and Option Bee Consulting are offering a workshop that will enable you to spend time outdoors with your team and to put mindfulness and bodily awareness into action. The workshop, centered on the calming, healing presence of horses, gives us a unique opportunity to learn more about our bodies and our emotional responses while spending time with beautiful animals. Healing with Horses offers activities, such as grooming a horse, that create opportunities for you and your team to bond while also giving you tools to remain grounded in your body and grounded in the moment.
